Although we do not know the relationship, if any, there appear on the scene at this time three other persons with the Lange surname that may be related to Louis Alexandre Theodore Lange. They are Françoise Lange, wife of Joseph Carlin, Alexandre Philippe Duclos Lange and Alexandre Lange.
Françoise Lange and Joseph Carlin had several children born and married in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s: Flory Carlin (b. 3 Dec 1773), Alexis Carlin (b. 5 Dec 1773; m. 26 Jan 1795 to Genevieve Derouan), Celestin Carlin (m. 8 Feb 1794 to Therese Blondin Prevost, widow), Eugene Carlin (b. Mar 1775), Denis Carlin (m. Susanne Labaterie) and Dorothee Carlin (b. 10 Jun 1780; m. 22 Nov 1808 to Evan Bowles). In the records Joseph Carlin is listed as from either Genoa, Italy; Venice, Italy or Xaintes, France while Françoise Lange is listed as of the Mississippi (River) and St. Charles (Parish, LA)644,645,646. Additional records of their children and grandchildren in the early 1800’s also appear647,648. In one baptismal record Françoise Lange is listed as a ‘carteroone’ (i.e., quadroon)649,650. Joseph Carlin and Françoise Lange lived on the lower Bayou Teche region651,652. Françoise Lange also appears as godmother in the baptism of Jean Baptiste Henry, son of Jean Henry and Marguerite Nope, on 10 Jan 1779653,654. Joseph Carlin died 30 Dec 1809 at his home on the lower Bayou Teche after an illness of seven days and was buried the same day on the opposite side of Bayou Teche on the property of his son Honore Carlin655,656. Françoise Lange, widow of Joseph Carlin, died 13 Sep 1815 at her home in St. Mary Parish, LA and was buried 14 Sep 1815 in the family cemetery on the east side of Bayou Teche657,658.
Alexandre Phillippe Duclos Lange appears as a witness in the marriage of Louis Judice (Captain of the Militia) and Magdelaine Chretien (marriage contract dated 7 Jan 1800)659,660, of Frederic Pellerin and Marie Anne Pecot (m. 23 Jul 1805)661,662, of Maximilien Judice and Celeste Boutte (m. 10 Apr 1806)663,664 and of Charles Rene Galien Auger and Eugenie Pellerin (m. 29 Jul 1806)665,666. He was also godfather or represented the godfather between 1792 and 1800 in the baptismal records of several people including two slaves667,668.
