Notes for Marie Therése (Spouse 1)
Marie Therése Prevost is listed as ‘of Pointe Coupée’1359,1360,1342 in some references and ‘of Illinois’1361,1362 in other references. We do know that Marie Françoise Quebedeau, the mother of Marie Therése Prevost, was from Illinois. Perhaps that is the origin of the ‘of Illinois’ reference.

Philippe Verret and Charles Provost were witnesses to the marriage of Pierre Prevost, son of Joseph Prevost and Jeanne Daublin, to Therese Prevost, daughter of Nicolas Prevost and Marie Françoise Quebedeau in St. Martin Parish, LA on 19 February 1786. Father Geffrotin conducted the marriage801,802.

Therese Prevost and Joseph Prevost were godparents at the baptism of Celestine Dartes, daughter of Jean Dartes and Pelagie Prevost, in St. Martin Parish, LA on 9 November 17871363,1364.

Therese Prevost and her husband Celestin Carlin were godparents at the baptism of Elizabeth Clark, daughter of James Clark and Ester Comstock, in St. Martin Parish, LA on 19 June 1797. The baptism was at the home of James Clark who lived at Prairie James - the English Coast1365,1366.

Therese Prevost and Baptiste Ringuet were godparents at the baptism of Emerantine Carlin, daughter of Denis Carlin and Susanne Labaterie, in St. Martin Parish, LA on 15 December 1799. The baptism was at the home of Widow Nicolas Guenard on Bayou Teche1367,1368.

There is a record of a Celestin Carlin marrying Therese Blondin (Teresia Blaudin) in St. Martin Parish, LA in November 1793. Witnesses at the marriage were E. Forstall and Peytavin Du Bousquet. No parentage is given in the records for either spouse1369,1370. Some of the children of Nicolas Prevost, husband of Marie Françoise Quebedeau and father of Therese Prevost, and some of his children carried the ‘dit’ name Blondin. For example the brother of Therese Prevost - Louis Prevost dit Blondin - carried this ‘dit’ name1371,1372,1373. Thus it seems probable that this is a marriage record of Celestin Carlin, son of Joseph Carlin and Françoise Lange, and Therese Prevost, daughter of Nicolas Prevost and Marie Françoise Quebedeau. Interestingly, this couple signed a civil marriage contract in St. Martin Parish, LA on 8 February 17941374,1167,1342,1375. Usually the civil contract for marriage was signed several days before the church service was performed.

Witnesses to the civil marriage contract of Celestin Carlin and Therese Provost in St. Martin Parish, LA on 8 February 1794 were Louis Dantilly Bertin and Michel Broussard for the groom and Antoine Martinez and Ramon de Cordova for the bride1342,1335.

The godparents of Marie Therése Provost when she was baptized on 14 January 1766 in Pointe Coupée Parish, LA were George Guillaume Bergeron and Marie Therese Drouillon, wife of Pierre Sibin582,1344.
