Alice Lacouture and Walter Herschel Bevil were married on 24 Dec 1928 in the Justice of the Peace (J. P.) Court in Beaumont, Jefferson County, TX13.

Alice Lacouture and Walter Herschel Bevil resided at 2855 Westmont in Beaumont, Jefferson County, TX 77706. Their telephone number was 409-898-159713.

Alice Lacouture dropped out of Beaumont High School in Beaumont, Jefferson County, TX while in the 11th grade13.

During World War II she helped her father haul scrap metal on Sundays13.

Alice Lacouture worked as a bookkeeper at Seguin Milling and Flour Company and also at Texas Spring Company. In October 1950 she founded Bevil’s Florist. In 1973 she sold Bevil’s Florist after being in business over twenty years13.

Alice never left ‘home’. After the death of her husband Walter Herschel Bevil and her father Abel Lacouture, she became the matriarch of the family. Adele (“Bobby”, her aunt), Mary Belle (her sister), Cecile (her mother) and Alice lived together in Beaumont, Jefferson County, TX13.

The family depended heavily on Alice for everything from entertaining the nieces and nephews to counseling. When there was an important family matter to be handled, Alice was the person that made the decision13.

As of the Spring of 1995, little had changed, Mary Belle and Alice still lived together in Beaumont, TX and Alice’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren became the recipients of her benevolence and guidance13.
