E5 Joseph Guidry (28) b. 1735 m. 1767 Elizabeth (Isabelle) Madelaine Comeau. (b. 1737 d. 1821) d. 1815 at St. James Parish, LA. Joseph is believed to be the first Guidry to settle in Louisiana; arrived around 1765 at the first Acadian Coast (St. James Parish) and believed to be part of group led by Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil who ventured to Santo Domingo (Haiti) before coming to LA. In 1766, a Joseph Guidry, age 32, is reported to have belonged to the militia of St. James, LA and was a participant of the Revolutionary War. A list of Militia of St. James in 1770 lists Joseph age 37 and married and living on the left (descending) bank of the Mississippi River. Joseph and Elizabeth were still living in the census of 1810 at St. James Parish. I believe that this was that Joseph. He died in 1815 at 85 years old.

Questions/Errors notes for Jean (Spouse 2)

It appears that Jean Petit married a third time on 3 November 1836 in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, LA; however, there seems to be an error in the name of his third wife. Nora Lee Pollard’s book6608 provides the name of the wife as Apolline Daigre, daughter of Edouard Daigre and Marie Henri of West Baton Rouge Parish, LA. When Apolline Daigre is searched in Nora Lee Pollard’s book6610, however, it is discovered that Apolline Daigle (Daigre), child of Edouard Daigle and Marie Henri, married on 7 November 1836 at Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, LA to Caroline Hebert, child of Etienne Hebert and Ermeline Daigre of West Baton Rouge Parish, LA. The reference6611 to the church marriage record for these two situations is the same. It appears that Jean Petit probably did marry a third time on 3 November 1836 in Baton Rouge, LA; however, the transcriber of the records accidentally copied information on a person near the actual spouse of Jean Petit in the marriage records and entered that into the book by Nora Lee Pollard. I do not know who the actual third spouse of Jean Petit was.
