Notes for Ronald Joseph Wilfred LABINE

Ronald Joseph Wifred LaBine b. 29 Aug 1918, Haileybury, Ontario, m. 18 Jun 1951, in LaPasse, Ontario, Cecile LeBlanc, b. 26 Jul 1921, LaPasse, Ontario, (daughter of Napoleon “Paul” LeBlanc and Eléonore Soucie). Ronald died 7 May 1999, St. Catharines, Ontario, Buried: 10 May 1999, St. Catharines, Ontario. He was born in Northern Ontario in the village of Haileybury. They lived in Haileybury till the Fire of 1928, that burnt down the surrounding area. He and his family moved to a farm at Uno Park, a few miles north and lived there till 1939. At that time, his parents and him moved down to the Ottawa Valley. He served during the Second World War in Kingston. After his discharge, he moved onto the farm in Westmeath, Ontario.

He was a farmer in the Ottawa Valley who had a five hundred acre farm. The farm was located in Westmeath. In 1964 he moved the family up to Deep Diver and worked at various jobs. In 1967 the family again moved to St. Catharines, in the Niagara Falls area. He then worked for the school board in maintenance for them till he retired.

One interesting note is that he was always known as Ronald Joseph LaBine, born Aug. 29, 1918. When applying for a passport to travel, he discovered an interesting item about his name and birth date. The long birth certificate form came back with the name of Michael Wilfred Randal LaBine, born August 28, 1918. He had served in the Canadian Military and as well as other jobs. He had to go in front of a judge and sworn (sic) that to his knowledge that he was always known as Ronald Joseph Wilfred LaBine, born August 29, 1918. Cecile: Her birth certificate lists her name as Cecilia Lablance. “7565
