Notes for François GUILDRY dit Labine

“Francois enlisted at the time of the Civil War. His discharge stated he had an ulcer on his leg and should have not been accepted into the army. From his Certificate of Disability for Discharge ‘the said Private Francis LaBean has been unfit for duty since July 27, 1862, where in marching from Corinth, Mississippi to Bolivar, Tennessee he injured his leg, thereby rendering him unfit for service’ Dated 19 January 1862 (sic). In the Michigan Volunteers, 1861-1865 it listed Francis as: LaBene, Francis, Monroe County. Enlisted to Company B, Fifteenth Infantry, December 16, 1831 (sic), at Monroe, for 3 years, age 42. Mustered December 24, 1861. Discharged at Surgeon’s certificate of disability at Grand Junction, Tenn., March 10, 1863. This information came from Myrtle (LaBean) Pletos (L164) “8224,8872
