There appears to be an error in Rev. Donald Hebert’s book concerning the birth year of Josephine Guidry, daughter of Joseph Adrien Guidry and Marguerite Aimee Toups11658. The error may originate in the baptismal record for Josephine Guidry11667. Rev. Hebert reports that Josephine Guidry was born 30 September 1867 while her funeral record11668 indicates that she was six years old when she died on 16 August 1868. It seems unlikely that the funeral record would err in reporting a one-year old girl as six years old; therefore, I suspect that Josephine Guidry was born in 1861 or 1862 and not 1867. It appears probable that the transcriber of the baptismal record misread the “1” or “2” in 1861 or 1862 as a “7”. Also note that for St. Joseph’s Catholic Co-Cathedral, Volume 4 of the baptismal records is for the years 1860-1862 while Volume 6 is for the years 1867-1868. Since the baptismal record of Josephine Guidry is in Volume 4, it would seem that her birth year would be 1861 or 1862 and not 1867.
