“ FRANCOIS CHEVALIER MARGUERITE TRAHAN

The sixteenth day of December 1782, after the betrothal and the publication of one bann made canonically and without opposition at the sermon of our parochial high mass yesterday, Sunday, fifteenth instant, considering the dispensation of the two other banns and of the prohibited time together with the permission to marry in the evening granted at the bishopric, verified and insinuated the same day, signed: de Chapteuil, vicar general. Considering also the baptismal certificates of both aforesaid named spouses, the death certificates of the father and mother of the groom and that of the former husband of the bride, all in due form, have been married by me, undersigned, FRANCOIS CHEVALIER, weaver, major son of deceased Jean Chevalier and deceased Suzanne Yvon, his wife, native of the parish of Saint Hilaire de Chaubrogne, diocese of La Rochelle and resident of this one for several years, on the one hand; and ANNE MARGUERITE TRAHAN, day-laborer, major, widow of Jean Charles Lejeune, native of the parish of Isle Saint Jean, diocese of Quebec and resident of this one for more than three years, on the other hand. Have assisted as witnesses to the said marriage Jean Chevalier, brother of the groom; François Bourier; Honoré Caret, first cousin of the bride and Grégoire Benoit, also her first cousin, the last two as well as the bride have declared not knowing how to sign. The groom and the two others have signed with me.

And the said François Chevalier and Anne Marguerite Trahan have acknowledged for their child François Benjamin, born the fourteenth of December 1781 and baptized the fifteenth of the same month in the parish of Saint Similien of the city of Nantes, which they requested be noted. The aforesaid François Chevalier signed and the aforesaid Anne Marguerite Trahan has declared not to know how when requested.
